Not sure if someone has mentioned this but I ran into the issue where my heltec wouldn't show up in the Ports list. It showed up in the "other devices" section in DM. I installed the driver from the their website and it showed up in my ports list. proceed as normal from there.

During Hurricane Sandy we lost Verizon landline, Verizon Cell, AT&T cell and Optimum internet for ~9 days in central NJ. Satellite TV however did work. So a ham radio would have been very helpful during this period of time.

I finally had my 15 seconds of fame at Hamvention at the beginning of your video. Well I was on it yesterday told all my friends to watch and today I am trimmed out of it. Guess I should have recorded it. Good to se you anyway.

It can be a fun diversion and an educational hobby, but honestly, if it's not a widespread emergency, you aren't going to beat a cellphone. That said, the knowledge I gained did help my career as an electrical engineer.

I am disappointed with Icom. I just got my license and am in the market for my first radio. I wish they would have told us more about the X60. Do I wait for details or buy another product? This is poor marketing. They should be informing the customer , not playing games.

Those guys at 1:31 with the tie down straps also make a ratchet strap like carabiner that works with paracord, they’re pretty neat, rollercam is their ratchet strap

Maybe the N9TAX performing better on 70cm than the ED Fong J-pole is due to the N9TAX not being a J-Pole, but a slim Jim design? N9TAX explains the difference in a video. Basically, the top of the lead is shorted on Slim Jim, and on the J-Pole it is left open (not shorted) His EZNEC modeling showed that the slim Jim had slightly more gain than a J-Pole. Check out his "N9TAX Slim Jim Antenna design and use" video.
